If you want to drive safely on a rainy day, you need to make sure your wipers are working properly. When the wiper is used for a long time, it is easy to cause safety hazards. First of all, the old wipers will leave marks on the windshield when they are working, which will make it difficult for us to see the road ahead. Second, the wiper may make noise while working, which will interfere with our normal driving. Therefore, if you want to drive safely, you have to change your wipers regularly. In general, hook wipers are the commonly used type of wiper.
But different vehicles may have different styles. What if you don't know how to install it? Next, we will show you how to install each type of wiper. How to remove and install common wiper blades.
U/J hook blade
1. Find the correct blade size from the user manual. Usually, hook wipers have a J-shaped hook at the end of the wiper blade. Find information about wiper blades directly from the owner's manual and note the dimensions. Note that the left and right front wipers are of different lengths, so you won't easily get the wrong size. Choose a wiper blade that matches the size of your car to ensure proper installation.
2. Can't find the user manual? Don't worry, the tape measure can easily measure the length of each wiper blade.
3. No user manual or measuring tape? Don't worry, just go to the car shop and replace the wipers. Make a note of the correct wiper size so you can replace it yourself next time.
Follow these steps to replace the wiper yourself:
Step one. Lift the wiper blade off the windshield. Simply slowly pull the wiper arm up and away from the glass until it is perpendicular to the windshield and secure it so that it does not fall over.
Step two. Place the towel on the windshield where the scraper is located. This prevents the wiper arm from accidentally falling and breaking the glass.
Step three. Make sure the wiper blade is parallel to the wiper arm, locate the raised button on the wiper blade that connects the wiper arm, and press the button with your finger. Press the tongue with one hand, hold the blade with the other hand, pull it out, and gently lower the wiper arm.
To install, lift the wiper arm parallel to the new blade, hook the end of the wiper arm over the adapter, and push the wiper blade upward. After hearing the wiper click, gently place the wiper back on the windshield.
After installing the first wiper blade, replace the other wiper blade head in the same way.
Snap-in blade
Choose the right size for your wiper. Use a tape measure to measure the length between the ends of the wiper blade. Keep in mind that driver - and passenger-side wipers will vary in size. If in doubt, check your vehicle's manual or check your wiper size at the auto shop for compatibility.
The installation steps are as follows:
1. Lift the wiper blade from the windshield. Hold the wiper arm parallel to the blade. Pull the arm up and away from the windshield until it is perpendicular to the glass. Please place the towel on the windshield before installation to prevent glass damage.
2. Press the button before removing the blade. Look for the lug button on the top or side of the wiper arm, just above where it connects to the actual wiper rod. Press the button with your finger and release the wiper blade. Then, simply pull the wiper blade directly up and out of the wiper arm.
3. Push the new wiper blade into the arm until it snaps into place. Before placing the wiper, make sure the blade is facing the glass and slide it into the end of the wiper arm. After hearing the wiper click, gently place the wiper back on the glass.
Remember to replace both wiper blades at the same time to make them work.
Pin insert
Use a tape measure to find the old wiper blade and measure it. Measure the length of the left and right sides of the front wiper blade, as they may be slightly different in size.
Refer directly to the owner's manual for the correct wiper size, or you can check the wiper library at an auto parts store. You can tell if the wipers are pin mounted because they are attached to the side of the blade rather than through the top.
The following is an installation example:
1. Lift the wiper arm from the windshield. Grab the wiper arm just above the point where it joins the blade. Slowly pull the wiper arm upward so that the blade is separated from the wiper arm and perpendicular to the front windscreen glass. Place the towel on the windshield below the wiper blade. Make sure it doesn't damage the glass.
2. Open the latch on the wiper blade and remove it from the pin. Look for a small plastic or metal clip where the blade meets the end of the wiper arm. Pull the latch up and release it from the wiper arm. Then, push the wiper blade against the windshield and remove it from the pin.
If the wiper mounted on the pin is not latched, rotate the wiper around the pin to push the wiper toward the windshield. Then remove the wiper blade from the pin.
3. Push the new wiper blade onto the pin and snap the latch. Unlatch the fresh wiper blade. Hold the new wiper blade so that it faces the windshield. Then simply slide the pin into the same size hole on the latch side of the blade. Finally, press down on the latch until it clicks, then place the wiper arm and blade back on the windshield.
